From installation to a populated dashboard in three steps.
From the Shopify App Store, installation starts standard OAuth authorization. Foreshelf requests product, inventory, location, and order access (see Data Requirements for exact details and why).
On first connection, Foreshelf imports your product catalog and the last 60 days of orders. This powers sales-velocity calculations from day one — no empty dashboard while you wait a week for data.
If your store has more SKUs or orders than one sync can process, the status shows “partial” instead of failing silently — retry synchronization from Settings.
If you sell products with expiry dates, onboarding offers to import existing batches by CSV (see Expiry Data). You can skip this step — Foreshelf remains useful without FEFO tracking.
The dashboard shows three figures: cash tied up, potential lost revenue, and expiry risk — all in dollars. Marcus starts analyzing your data and proposes first actions once enough history is available (see How Marcus Decides).
